« Règles d’utilisation des techniques pressiométriques et d’exploitation des résultats obtenus pour le calcul des fondations », is an historical technical note written by Louis Ménard, a French engineer, in 1975. In this document Louis Ménard describes the principles of the pressuremeter test: inflating a cylindrical probe in a borehole. Then he describes the results analysis process, determining parameters for soil resistance and soil deformability from the pressure-volume curve. Finally, he proposes the first rules for the design of foundation and settlement computation based on the newly proposed test. The principles set in this book remain to this day at the bases of the modern pressuremeter design rules.
