This report on geotechnical engineering in the Asian region has been compiled to mark the launch of the 1st ISSMGE Asian Geotechnical Conference.

It briefly summarises recent developments in the activities of the ISSMGE Asia Region from 2011 to 2025.

The report describes the affiliated societies, geological and geotechnical issues, climate change on the Asian continent, the low-cost conference policy, ISSMGE and Asian Regional officers, the Asian Council meeting, the venues and host societies of the ICSMGE, the Asian Regional Conference (ARC) on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, and the Asian Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference (AYGEC). The technical programme of the 8th–17th Asian Regional Conferences and the ISSMGE technical committees held in Asia are also presented. The final section of this report summarises the activities carried out in the Asian region for the Time Capsule Project.
